Do you remember the story about that sheep herder who climbed a mountain to get a better look at what appeared to be a bush that was burning but not consumed? When he arrived at the right spot, he heard the voice of God saying, “Moses, I want you to return to Egypt and do the work that will set my people free.” Moses responded, “Why me, God? I stutter. I’m just a shepherd. If I go back, they’ll probably execute me.”

Why me? God knew Moses was the right person for the job. That’s why.

Why me?  Too often, that is what churches hear when someone is invited to volunteer.  Perhaps we should trust God – and our church – to know us better than we do ourselves when we are asked to help.

Not everyone can sit on a committee, but volunteering does not need to be a huge commitment.  Teach one Sunday school class.  Buy White Dove toys.  Be an usher.

So much of a church’s work is done by volunteers.  So why wait to be asked to volunteer?  Click on a button below and offer to help.
